NameCoach

What is it?

NameCoach is a tool that allows users to record their name, add pronunciation text and pronouns, which can then be accessed by other students, faculty and staff.

How do I enter my information?

OR

  • Login to UW Canvas and open a current SOM course. Open the NameCoach page on the left navigation bar to create and manage your own content in addition to accessing content submitted by others.

If this is your first time using NameCoach, click on the Record button to open the Edit Your Recording window. This is where you can enter add/or select your pronouns, enter the phonetic spelling of your name and record your name pronunciation.

You can edit your recorded information by logging into the UWSOM NameCoach NetID Portal or accessing the NameCoach page within any UWSOM Canvas course and selecting the Update button.

Once you have completed your NameCoach profile, your information will appear in all other UWSOM Canvas courses that have turned on the NameCoach menu item. Your NameCoach data will also be added to your eValue profile, if you have one, to be accessible to students and staff.

How do I access student information?

Foundations educators can access student information within the NameCoach page in UWSOM Canvas courses. Below your recording pane, you will find the submitted recordings that are searchable.

Clinical educators and staff can access student information within eValue Schedule reports by clicking on the students name in the report results.

Individuals with access to eValue profiles and user data download can also access NameCoach information in those locations.
