Medical Student Conference Travel Grant applications due by Feb. 11, 2024
The application cycle for the medical student conference travel grants is open through Feb. 11, 2024. Supported by Student Affairs and the Medical Student Association (MSA), the grant provides support to medical students to attend a virtual or in-person conference.
Funding may go towards conference registration fees or airfare only. It cannot be used for accommodations, food, parking, other supplementary expenses or to fund research. Applications are reviewed and determined by the MSA board through a blinded process.
Travel grant details:
- WHAT: Travel grants offer monetary support toward conference registration to attend a virtual or in-person conference
- WHEN: The current application window is now through Feb. 11. Late applications will not be accepted
- WHO: Any UW School of Medicine medical student may apply for the grant
- HOW: Applications must be submitted through this form
Applicants will be notified of the decision status approximately three weeks after the deadline closes, around early March.

Diabetes-associated heart disease is topic of Feb. 1, 2024 talk
Join the Office of Research and Graduate Education for the next Science in Medicine Lecture featuring Karin Bornfeldt, Ph.D., from the Departments of Medicine and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. “Diabetes-associated heart disease: Bridging the gap between basic and translational research” will be held on Thursday Feb. 1, 2024, in person at UW Medicine South Lake Union Orin Smith Auditorium and streamed virtually on Zoom. The talk begins at noon AK, 1 p.m. PT, 2 p.m. MT.

"Elevating Health Equity: Forging a New Narrative,” will be held April 11-12, 2024, by the Indiana University School of Medicine. You can learn more on their site.
Indiana University invites students to consider presenting on a topic that will help elevate health equity. Conference organizers invite presentations that explore vital areas such as mental health, intersectionality, health outcomes, medical research, lived experiences and tools and resources for improving LGBTQ+ experiences in health care.
