Physician diversity talk is Friday, Feb. 16, 2024
The talk “Physician Diversity and Belonging in Medical Education: Are We There Yet?” will be Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, starting at 5 p.m. AK, 6 p.m. PT, 7 p.m. MT, and will be presented by Lindia J. Willies-Jacobo, M.D., senior associate dean of admissions and equity, inclusion and diversity at Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine in Pasadena, California.

Deadline to apply for UW graduate student senate travel grants is Monday, Feb. 12
The typical amounts are:
- Up to $300 for travel in the U.S.
- Up to $500 for international travel
- Up to $300 for virtual conference registration
The GPSS will start reviewing your applications once they receive two forms, the student application and the faculty recommendation. Here is what you need to know:
Faculty recommendation: https://depts.washington.edu/gpss/funding/travel-grants/faculty-recommendation-form/ (The recommendation must come from a UW faculty member from any department (i.e., someone with the word dean, chair, lecturer, instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, professor, etc. in their job title).

ICYMI: Final call! Medical Student Conference Travel Grant applications due by this coming Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024
As we’ve shared in previous newsletters, the deadline is approaching! Medical student conference travel grants help students attend a virtual or in-person conference. Funding may go towards conference registration fees or airfare only.
Any UW School of Medicine medical student may apply for the grant. Applications are reviewed and determined by the Medical Student Association (MSA) board through a blinded process.
Applicants will be notified of the decision status approximately three weeks after the deadline closes, around early March.

Dementia in primary care talk is Feb. 14, 2024
Jackie Raetz, M.D., associate professor, UWSOM Department of Family Medicine, will present a Grand Rounds about “Dementia in Primary Care: Research and Tools for Primary Care,” online and in person at 11 a.m. AK, noon PT, 1 p.m. MT, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024.
